“Kremerata Baltica” musicians

“GK Inside Out” is a new project by Gidon Kremer, featuring soloists from the Kremerata Baltica ensemble. In this project, Kremer recreates his life, both in and out of music, from his early years to the present day, through his own letters to his family, colleagues, and friends. Through a polyphony of thoughts, doubts, revelations and paradoxes, in a dialogue with the world around him and himself, the author's life path — sometimes dramatic, sometimes bizarre, but always unpredictable and filled with searches and discoveries — emerges from these fragments. The rich musical score of the evening, featuring works spanning four centuries, from Bach to Piazzolla, forms the second, equally important part of the self-portrait, providing a counterpoint to the authentic letters' texts and sharing the author’s emotions while offering (expectings) a direct emotional response to their content.

This is a special season – KREMERATA BALTICA marks its 30th anniversary, while we also celebrate the 80th birthday of its founder, artistic director and guiding inspiration, Gidon Kremer. The orchestra will celebrate these milestones both in Latvia and around the world. It is an opportunity to look back on three decades of building a unique musical community – true to its artistic convictions and always open to new ideas.
