"Children of Independence" is the first Latvian documentary performance in Russian. It is based on interviews of young people, who were born, when the "Second Republic" was established. What do they know about the events of 1991, about the Soviet Union, about that period of history, which is now demonized diligently, or, on the contrary, romanticized to the glowing radiance?
The second, and perhaps the main, component is the stories of our heroes' mothers about the time when they were young.
"No, we're not going to recite voce recordings. In the narrative, we have intertwined conversations of living people, keeping their intonations, facial expressions, gestures and the most valuable thing: their sincerity. After all, our performance is a talk between the closest people - children and their mothers... We have included music and documentary footage, too. To be honest, we thought we'd get a lot of politics. And it has turned out to be a lot of love."
