One performance in one act - on March, 4 only.

With this production, Chekhov Theatre and the investigative journalism center "Re:Baltica" are introducing a new, socially relevant performance format in Latvia, where live journalism, dramaturgy and discussion meet. The dramaturgy of the behind-the-scenes production refers to the documentary four-episode series "Disjunction" by "Re:Baltica", published at the beginning of 2024. In the series, journalists investigate sharp clashes of opinions in the society, their origins and their consequences for the security and well-being of this country.

The production, in which the journalists, actors of  Chekhov Theatre, and the audience participate, provides an opportunity to look behind the scenes of the series and to see some episodes, not included in the series; it will compare, what some politicians said in front of the camera and behind the scenes; it will show the journalists' motivations, the stories of their doubts and experiences as well as the reactions and feelings of the people, filmed in the series, before and after the series have been demonstrated.

The staging director of the production is Valters Sīlis. Beside the actors of Chekhov Theatre, "Re:Baltica" journalists Sanita Jemberga, Inga Spriņģe, Inese Braže, Annija Petrova will participate in the performance, together with the partners of "Re:Baltica" from the only independent media in Daugavpils – Chayka.lv, as a large part of the shooting of the series took place in the second largest the city of Latvia. However, the question that the participants of this performance will try to answer together with the audience will be similar to the one that the creators of the series asked, while talking to their conversational counterparts: what is better – a pleasant hatred or an unpleasant conversation?

Chekhov Theatre invites all those interested, who are ready for a meaningful conversation about the most difficult issues of a disjoint environment, because after the performance, the audience will also be given an opportunity to ask questions to the performers.
