Lear announces that the proportion of each of his three daughters would  depend on how eloquently the said girl expresses her love for her father. The two older daughters willingly compete in fluffy phrases, but the youngest one refuses to follow – and, eventually, she remains without any inheritance.

Julst like in the folk–tales with a similar plot, Lear eventually learns that it is his younger daughter, who really loves him, but the path to this understanding will be long and bitter...
